Foreign languages courses in Lviv

Teachers of the Center of Foreign Languages Lider give lessons in accordance with general multi-level programs both for adults and children.

Foreign languages courses (course of English, course of French, etc.) are divided training programs: foreign language for business and tourism; preparation to taking international exams for receiving international certificates; foreign language for medical workers; foreign language for lawyers; foreign language for technical staff; business foreign language; general foreign language (for example, “general English”, “general German”, etc.), spoken foreign language (for example, “spoken French”, “spoken English”) and other programs.

Each program is individual and differs from others.

For example, training programs “General English” and “Spoken English”. At the classes of “general English” they mostly study grammar and complex lexical structures. At the classes of spoken English they work out basic communicative rules and expand their vocabulary, since the main goal of a course with such program is to overcome language barrier and to help you speak English as your native language.

Knowledge of a language doesn’t only mean ability to read with dictionary, but also to express one’s thoughts freely and with correct pronunciation, as well as audio perception of the languages. For that purpose you need to have sufficient and modern vocabulary.

“General English” program provides for simultaneous development of all the language skills: listening comprehension, reading and writing, as well as speaking. Listening comprehension of a language takes place in those cases, when at the classes the course participants find themselves in a situation when they are forced to ask questions and to respond exclusively in a foreign language. That’s how listening comprehension skills are developed. Reading is more than understanding texts without dictionary. One should be able to read with correct accent and intonation. In order to achieve such result teachers of Roman Danyliv Foreign Languages Center Lider use textbooks of leading foreign publishing houses. Written English skills mean ability to write business and informal letters, and to draw up and write any documents.

Programs “Foreign language for lawyers” and “Foreign language for medical workers” also differ by amount of knowledge of complex words and terms, which are used in medicine or law. For this purpose vocabulary minimum of legal or medical terms is established, after learning which the student can understand and translate legal and medical texts (depending on the chosen program).

Preparation program to international exams in order to receive international certificates is peculiar for a certain language, since the evidence about a certain level of knowledge of a certain language is an international certificate issued by prestigious educational institutions of Europe and the USA. Their specific is in the fact that for the purpose of successful passing the exams, in order to receive a certain international certificate, it is necessary to have certain percentage ratio between knowledge of grammar and vocabulary. Programs for exams for receiving international certificates change each year and are established by international institutions and institutes that regulate issuance of the certificates. That’s why Center of Foreign Languages Lider changes the preparation programs to international exams each year in line with international requirements. That guarantees to a certain extent that a student of Center of Foreign Languages Lider will be able to successively pass the exam and receive a Lider certificate of language skills or an international certificate (Cambridge certificate, etc.) The preparation program to taking international exams, which has been developed in Center of Foreign Languages Lider, changes as per individual requests of the Center’s training specialists for the purpose of the students’ better learning of grammar and vocabulary. The general preparation program on taking international exams in Cambridge and Oxford remains unchanged. That program of the international exam is the same for both Ukrainian and foreign students.

The programs are divided into short-term and long-term ones. Everybody knows that it is impossible to learn a foreign language in two weeks, even for extremely gifted children or adults. That’s why when the student only begins to learn a foreign language from a certain level; the teachers of Center of Foreign Languages Lider select a course in certain foreign language, but with limitless program. It means that the student can learn the language to a certain level and the program can change in the process of his/her successful mastering the material taught. Courses with short-term programs are intended to reinforce and develop language skills and they are based on previously received knowledge. Basically such programs have only one level, instead of six levels as approved by international classification of languages levels.

Depending on the levels, role games and dramatization will be used at the classes. Thanks to this it is possible to implement any topic or plot into the language. At the classes the students communicate in pairs with each other or in groups. Working in groups helps students to successfully correct their expressions and to display language independence. Each methodology is special due to methods of teaching.

Methods of teaching include teaching exclusively in foreign language or both the foreign and native language of the student. That is, when learning, for example, English, the teacher can use the methodology of teaching, which includes teaching only in English. In the process of learning the necessity arises to ask, answer and speak exclusively in English.

There are the following methodologies: communicative methodology; methodology of advanced study of grammar; methodology for correct pronunciation and diction (phonetics).

For example, when learning lexical material they use communicative methodology. In order to achieve the level at which the student will be able to speak fluently, the most often the methodology for correct pronunciation and diction is used. If a student makes a lot of orthographical and punctuation errors in the sentences, the teacher of Center of Foreign Languages Lider will use the methodology for advanced study of grammar.
